Our trip to Oplenac and Avala  will take us from Belgrade to Avala and then all the way to Oplenac. Oplenac stands above city of Topola and represents a place where at the beginning of 20th century Serbian King Petar I Karadjordjevic started working on memorial complex. His son King Aleksandar Karadjordjevic planted vineyards. With its 511 m height mountain Avala is the favorite picnic ground for citizens of Belgrade. Avala is dominated by Avala Tower and the Monument to the Unknown Hero. The position of Avala and its content makes the perfect place to begin our tour.

After arriving at Avala we will have some free time to visit monument dedicated to the Unknown hero, masterpiece of Ivan Mestrovic and to enjoy the view of Sumadija. This monument is dedicated to the victims and heroes of The First World War.
From there we will continue to the Avala Tower. The Tower was built in 1965., it was the tallest TV and radio transmitter in Europe. It quickly became one of the symbols of Belgrade. It was destroyed during NATO bombing in 1999. The Tower was reconstructed in 2010. and today you can enjoy the view from a restaurant and a beautiful terrace. We will have some free time to have a drink in this restaurant high above the ground and have a chance to take a look at the city of Belgrade.

After that it will take us about one hour to reach Oplenac and Topola and its historical and memorial complex of the Karadjordjevic dynasty.
We will visit St. Djordje church and its crypt where you can see the remains of the kings, queens and other members of the Karadjordjevic dynasty. We will also visit royal winery and after that you will have some free time. Oplenac today this represents very significant historical and cultural sight which still belongs to the  Karadjordjevic dynasty. Complex consists of St. Djordje church, its crypt, house of King Petar I and king`s winery. This complex represents a heritage to the people of Serbia.

Meeting at the agreed place at 10h

Start of the tour is at 10h (we will pick you up in front of your accommodation) and we have about 30 minutes drive to Avala.

Avala - Monument of the Unknown Hero

At the agreed time we will gather the group and move to Topola. After visiting Topola we will begin our journey back to Belgrade.
