Tour starts with one easy drive about 35 minutes to Avala, the favorite picnic site of Belgrade citizens. By geographical definition Avala is considered a mountain with its 511 altitude above sea level. From the ancient times Avala was inhabited, in Serbian history first knowledge dates about ancient fortification Zrnov. Zrnov was the firs line of the defense of city of Belgrade during the long Turkish ottoman occupation of Belgrade. Today on the location of Zrnov we can find a magnificent monumental monument dedicated to the Unknown Hero.  After the end of First World War which was devastating for Serbia, king Aleksandar Karađorđević decided to build a big monument dedicated to the all died soldiers fighting for freedom of Serbia during the First World War. In Serbia First World War is known also as a Great war considering that one third part of the male population was lost in fights for liberation. Arriving on Avala first point will be walking around and going to the top where is located Monument of The Unknown Hero. After enjoying in a beauty of the monument we will continue to the Avala Tower.

Avala Tower is one of the most recognizable symbols of Belgrade. It was made in 1965 as a TV transmitter but very fast it become a favorite symbol of Belgrade. After bombing of the tower in 1999 tower was reconstructed but it kept original look. Today tower is more than a TV transmitter it is a best place to see panorama of Belgrade. On the top of the tower is located caffe from which you will enjoy breathtaking view of Belgrade from a height more than 180m.

From Avala our Belgrade City Tours continues to the Dedinje area which is considered most expensive and most exclusive part of Belgrade. There we will see famous stadiums of Partizan football club and Red Star which is the biggest in Serbia. Next stop is chuch of Saint Sava.

Visiting Church of Saint Sava you will enter a one of the biggest ortodox churches in Europe.

Meeting at the agreed place at 10h

The departure to the trip is in the early morning hours, around 10h (we are picking you up at the agreed time in front of your accommodation), then we have approximately a 30 minutes drive to the Avala.

Avala - Monument of the Unknown Hero

By arriving to Avala, there is a free time to visit the Monument of the Unknown Hero, the masterpiece of Ivan Mestrovic, and enjoy the view of Šumadija.

Avala Tower

After enjoying the nature, and the monument, which represents the dying of the Serbian heroes during The First World War, we proceed to the Avala Tower. The tower which has became through the XX century the symbol of Belgrade, has been bombed during the NATO bombing in 1999. After the reconstruction of the tower, in 2010, it shines again, this time with a vantage point and a caffe bar. We continue our visit to the tower, free time for a drink at the bar, and the vantage point.

Dedinje

We continue our ride passing by the stadium Partizan (Stadion JNA) and Red Star (Marakana) to the  St. Sava Temple.

St. Sava Temple

Stopping by the second biggest temple in the world, the spot where the temple has been built has a long tradition, we can actually say it is one of the most sacred places in Belgrade. Next to the temple are National Library and the monument to Vozd Karadjordje. Free time for a walk and a visit to the temple. After the end of the visit we continue our ride to the city center.

We are heading towards the Slavija Square, which is one of the largest and most busy circular flows in Belgrade, and the street of Kralja Milana,

We reach the hotel towards the Republic Square, Studentski park, and Kalemegdan, we pass below the Kalemegdan Fortress and we continue our Belgrade City Tour towards to the Serbian Parliament and to the assembly of the city where we will finish our tour.
